Desmond Mantle

I'm thrilled to be a part of the inaugural TEDxCMC event! I entered CMC with the Class of 2023 but graduated this past December with a double major in Government and Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) and a Computer Science sequence. I will be headed to law school this fall after working on an archaeological dig over the summer.

I am excited to share my thoughts on Caesar salad and especially how its little-known Mexican origins relate to my experience as a white-passing Mexican-American. Through stories of culinary history, family history, and personal reflection, I hope to make audience members understand this classic dish's Mexican roots, appreciate its culinary uniqueness, and leave with an appetite for some delicious Caesar salad.
